Before leaving Manila, I exposed several rolls of film, intending to re-expose them once I arrived in Australia. In a shift away from the fast pace of modern photojournalism, I immersed myself in the slow, deliberate process of using film which I hadn’t done in years. I captured memories both joyous and bittersweet: familiar places I worked as a news photographer, my childhood home, and final moments in places where I’d said my goodbyes. When I saw the overlapping images on the developed film, I found it hard cutting them into frames, and it felt just like this dreamlike state of transition, where my sense of ‘home’ is quietly evolving.
